Ultimate Guide: How to Spot Fake Supreme Bags, Clothes and Accessories on Shopee, Lazada and Carousell?

In this series of beginner’s guide, we will guide you on how to spot fake Supreme bags, clothes and accessories on popular e commerce platforms in Malaysia – Shopee, Lazada and Carousell.

First of all, you need to clear on why are you reading this article? Are you a beginner on Supreme brand? Or Are you trying to know whether the items that you purchased on these items are fake? Well. Let’s start the discussion.

You need to know about Supreme first.

Supreme NYC was founded by James Jebbia in 1994. In the past few years, Supreme is releasing only limited units for all of its items. This makes Supreme merchandise is one of the most sought after within the streetwear circle. Most of the items released on Supreme NYC website being sold out in less than 3 minutes, unless you are lucky.

Now talk about the retail and resell pricing of Supreme.

Well. This Supreme Waist Bag for SS20 season was released at retail price of USD $98 and currently priced at USD $188 on reseller website (without adding tax and shipping from the US). For the Small Shoulder Bag, the retail price was USD $44 and listed on reseller website for about USD $120.

Another example is this Supreme Dunk Tee for SS21 season. It was released for USD $45 and currently listed on reseller website from USD $65 onward (without adding tax and shipping from the US).

A Supreme Tee is set at the retail price of USD $45 and will be priced at least USD $55 and above via reseller. Well. You need to add USD $20 for shipping from the Stateside. A Supreme shirt will cost about USD $75 (~RM320) when you purchase via reseller website.

So, now asking yourself. How is that possible a shirt that priced at RM30, RM50, RM100 or even RM200 claimed to be authentic Supreme NYC? It is impossible. Who would sell you at retail price if the resell price is higher?

Shopee

There are uncountable Supreme merchandises on Shopee, but how many of them are fake merchandises? The answer is almost 100%. The reason is simple. Shopee doesn’t allow the sale of Supreme item if the seller is not an authorised seller. So far, did Supreme give any company or individual the authorised licence?

Of course. Shopee is putting the effort to remove those fake Supreme merchandises but there are still a lot that listed there, especially from China sellers.

Of course, there might be some shops that are selling authentic Supreme merchandises with resell price. But how many of them? Unless you have confidence on the seller, then only proceed to purchase.

Lazada

It’s almost the same case for Lazada. We can easily searched for Supreme merchandise on Lazada and there are uncountable results. However, it is almost impossible to get an authentic piece of Supreme merchandise.

Of course, there might be some shops that are selling authentic Supreme merchandises with resell price. But how many of them? Unless you have confidence on the seller, then only proceed to purchase.

Carousell

Carousell is abit tricky as it does have new and used items. For Supreme clothes and bags, there are a lot of fake and authentic as well.

In order to purchase an authentic Supreme Tee or Bag, it is important to check the ratings of the seller for further information. After that, can legit check the Carousell seller on related streetwear Facebook group before purchase.

Be a wise consumer because there are a lot of scammers on Carousell even though it has Carousell Protection. You need to remember that Carousell doesn’t possess any knowledge on legit an item. So a seller that sent a fake item (looks identical to authentic) to buyer is considers as no problem and  it is hard to dispute when issue arises.

Facebook Group

There are a lot of Streetwear Facebook group by Malaysian. Of course, it does contain scammers as well because it is impossible to prevent 100% zero scam.

What you need to do is the legit check EVERY SINGLE seller on the Streetwear Facebook Group before proceed with the transaction and look for those who vouch for him. Do compare the account holder name with the Facebook name to ensure both are the same before proceed. DO NOT PROCEED IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBT.

Instagram/Facebook Page

There are uncountable Instagram/Facebook pages that sell Supreme merchandises and there are a lot of scammer as well. If you are interested to purchase a piece of authentic Supreme merchandise, don’t mind to legit check the Instagram/Facebook page on the Streetwear Facebook Group before proceed with the transaction and look for those who vouch for him. Do compare the account holder name with the Facebook name to ensure both are the same before proceed. DO NOT PROCEED IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBT.

REMINDER: Many LIKES or FOLLOWERS do not mean they sell authentic items. Likes can be purchased, remember?

Original Rejected/Authorized Rejected

Do not believe in these two terms. Basically they mean fake. There is no way a brand would allow its low quality items being release into the market. Even if the item came from the original factory, but it has flaw and did not pass the quality control. So, it doesn’t qualify as an authentic or original item.

Basically those Original Rejected items are just fake item that the factories are unable to copy 100% the same. That is the main reason why the seller said it is rejected because the item has slight difference. This is a complete nonsense.

How possible a huge company likes Supreme is willing to risk its multibillion brands and allowed those flaw items release into the market? The answer is impossible.

Conclusion

There are a lot of sellers that are selling Supreme Tee and Bags from Malaysia, but how many of them are authentic? Well. You need to use common sense to think before you make your purchase.

If the item is too cheap and below resell price – if you are a seller, are you willing to sell the item at under-price when the demand is high?

If the item is around the range of resell price – conduct legit check before purchase. DO NOT SOLELY BELIEVE ON THOSE RATINGS AND REVIEWS BECAUSE IT CAN BE CREATED AND BOUGHT EASILY BY FAKE ACCOUNTS.

It brings no pride if you are using a fake item of which infringed others’ trademarks and copyrights. With the same amount of RM100 or RM200, you can get a piece of authentic Adidas or Calvin Klein Tee. Why would you get a piece of fake Supreme Tee and pretend it to be authentic?
